Biological diversity – or biodiversity – is a term used to define variety of life on Earth. High biodiversity helps to maintain ecosystems in the appropriate condition and keep their natural balance, so they are able to provide goods and key services. Unfortunately, human activities cause permanent loss of biodiversity and negative changes in the environment.
We are therefore committed to protection of biological diversity and sustainable environmental management. We support planning and implementation of the protection tasks on high natural value areas as well as assessment of state, functions and services provided by ecosystems in Poland. Our activities fulfill the mission of United Nations Biodiversity Decade 2011-2020.
